Catastrophic natural turmoil has led to a pandemonium grimace of the state which wreaked havoc and inundated 4897 villages; nearly 3.1 million people spread over 19 districts (out of 30 districts) have been affected very badly, nearly 60% of whom are women and children; 41 persons have lost their lives; at least 16 persons are missing and thousands displaced; thousands of families are rendered homeless and taking shelter on roads and other government schools and hospitals and in the open; livestock casualty including poultry stands at 1667, it reported damage of 116706 dwelling houses and property worth 2120.92 crore of rupees; and also crop damage over 2.87 lakh hectares.
IEA is extensively involved in emergency relief and rehabilitation of victims of natural calamities such as flood, cyclone and earthquake. ‘IEA’ mobilized a multi-sector and multi disciplinary team that visited the affected areas to rapidly assess the situation and compiled a precise inventory of needs.
According to our assessment the needs include the following;-
1) Household Items 2) Food products 3) Hygiene and sanitation products 4) Resettlement of displaced persons and 5) Rehabilitation of displaced population whose houses have been washed away in the floods.
Our Organization is in the forefront rendering emergency assistance, relief and distributing Disaster Aid such as food, medicines, clothing, utensils etc and providing shelter to the flood victims.
